Mrs. Karen Mason
2nd Grade Teacher
My name is Karen Mason, and I am looking forward to teaching second grade at South City Catholic Academy. I have taught second grade at St. Joan of Arc since 2002. I have served as the school coordinator for the Bellarmine Speech League, as well as a speech coach and judge. I have also moderated the Mini Vinnies, a service club affiliated with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
I have two bachelor degrees: a BA from Northern Illinois University, where I majored in sociology, and a BS from University of Missouri-St. Louis, where I majored in early childhood education. I also have a JD (Juris Doctorate) from Washington University’s School of Law (I practiced law for 13 years before deciding to become a teacher). I also earned my religious education certification through the Paul VI program.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jeff Suess, and our children, Matthew, Alexandra, Mason, and Caroline. We also have two adorable dogs, a Beagle named Callie and a Yorkie named Rooney. I love to read and run. I also am on the Liturgy Committee at my parish, Christ the King in University City, and serve as a Eucharistic Minister.
I am thrilled to be a faculty member at SCCA. It is so exciting to be part of something new and extraordinary, and I look forward to renewing relationships with my “old” families and getting to know my “new” ones. Please know you are all in my prayers as we begin this amazing adventure together! Please keep me in your prayers as well.
